Efficient noise reduction with minimal roof load – the lightweight noise barrier is the ideal weatherproof solution for technical equipment on rooftops and outdoors
Lightweight noise barriers for rooftop installations are an effective way to reduce noise emissions from technical equipment such as air-conditioning units, ventilation systems, generators or compressors right at the source. Thanks to their low dead weight, they are particularly suitable for flat roofs and structurally sensitive buildings where additional loads on the roof must be kept to a minimum.

The rooftop noise barriers allow sound sources to be shielded and directed in a targeted way without affecting the operation of the equipment.
Technical advantages at a glance
The lightweight noise barrier for rooftop installations is a well-engineered, cost-effective and versatile solution for outdoor noise reduction. It combines high acoustic performance with minimal additional load, meeting the requirements of modern industrial and commercial projects.
- Low weight: ideal for roof areas with limited load-bearing reserve
- High sound insulation: effective reduction of airborne sound (e.g. up to approx. 34 dB depending on the version)
- Modular design: flexible adaptation to different equipment and roof geometries
- Weather-resistant: suitable for permanent outdoor use
- Easy installation: quick to fit on existing structures
- Individually configurable: height, length and finish can be tailored to the project

Modular noise barrier designed specifically for rooftop applications
Compared with conventional noise barriers, lightweight rooftop systems are tailored specifically to the requirements of building roofs:
- Reduced surface load to protect the roof structure
- Can be integrated into existing rooftop plant installations
- Adaptable to air-conditioning units, refrigeration systems or emergency generators
- Optional extension with openings, doors or maintenance access points
Typical applications
- Air-conditioning and HVAC systems on flat roofs
- Industrial and production buildings
- Data centres and energy plants
- Commercial properties and logistics centres
- Temporary or permanent noise control measures

Construction and materials
The noise barrier consists of modular acoustic panels with a multi-layer construction. The outer shell is made of galvanised or coated sheet steel, optionally also of aluminium or stainless steel for special requirements (e.g. the chemical or food industry).
The internal filling of acoustically optimised materials provides high sound absorption and sound insulation. At the same time, the construction is designed for the controlled drainage of rainwater and condensation.
Installation and system integration
The barrier is installed on a structurally designed substructure. The individual panels are inserted into prepared bays and can be quickly replaced or extended if required.
The modular system allows cost-effective implementation both in new builds and when retrofitting existing installations.
Added value for operators and planners
- Compliance with statutory noise limits
- Improved working and living environment
- Fewer complaints and lower operational risks
- Sustainable, low-maintenance solution
- Planning certainty thanks to the modular design
